Our woman Częstochowa from Jasna Gora saved the Polish nation from demolition many times. She saved us during the Swedish Flood, saved us from the Turkish storm, shielded us from Sovietization. Beginnings
In the 14th century, the Duke of Opole Władysław was given control of Red Russia. During his travels on the lands entrusted to him, in the private chapel of the Bełski castle he saw, at that time with graces the famous, different image of God-parent. At that time, the Tatars approached the castle and tried to get it. But they were defeated and fled in fear. The prince attributed this triumph to the aid of Our woman and her beautiful icon from the belgian castle. So he decided to take a wonderful image to Silesia. In 1382, obedient to interior inspiration, the Duke of Opole brings from Hungary to the Częstochowa of Pauline Fathers and entrusts them with the image of Our Lady, who has since been called Częstochowa.
The mountain on which the first, temporary wooden spiritual foundation stood was called Jasna. As early as 1425–1429, one-nave Gothic brick temple was erected on Jasna Góra, replacing the wooden church. all year the pilgrimage movement grew and it was essential to grow the sanctuary. It began in 1620. As there have been many robberies on the monastery, it has been decided to erect solid defensive shafts around it. By 1644 the Gothic church had been rebuilt into a baroque basilica, the spiritual buildings, the tower, the refectory and the knights' hall had been built. The image of Jasna Góra Madonna was placed in a specially built chapel for this purpose, in which it is inactive present today.
There is simply a fifteenth-century legend entitled "The Transfer of the Tablet of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which Saint Luke painted with his own hands." According to her, the image of Our woman of Czestochowa does not come from the 14th century, but from the beginning of Christianity, and was painted by St. Luke the Evangelist on the boards of the table, which was to stand at Mary's home in Jerusalem.
