The Academy of War Art will transform into the University of National Defence – announced Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister, head of the MON, during the inauguration of the academic year at this Warsaw university. This academic year, all the legal requirements for this are to be met. The survey in Asz Woj began with 2,400 listeners.
– It is 1 of the most crucial centres of science, education and strategy for the safety of the Polish state – said the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Warsaw during a solemn appeal inaugurating the academic year 2024/2025 in War Art Academy. He besides thanked students who chose to survey at the academy. “You are investing in your future and we are investing in your future and at the same time the future of Poland,” he stressed. The Minister pointed out that the interest in studies in military schools, both in military and civilian directions, is enormous. “This year there were on average six candidates for 1 place, which shows how crucial these universities are and how crucial they are in forming the Polish army,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
The head of the MON added that these schools, including AszWoj, are besides crucial for civilians, among others due to the fact that they are preparing local governments for crisis actions. – The last flood showed that we request even more education on emergency actions He said.
The minister besides spoke of plans to transform the academy into the University of National Defence. – In order to decision universities to the next level of academic activities, a statutory change is needed, which we are preparing for – announced the Deputy Prime Minister. He added that this academic year should meet all the legal requirements for the academy to become a university. Finally, the head of the MON wished listeners and employees to make it a good and wise year for them and the college.
Dr Mieczysław Gocul, Rector of the Academy, besides spoke about changes in AszWoj. “We have developed a fresh strategy for the years 2024–2035 to prepare us to meet the challenges of the future,” said the general. He explained that it integrates innovative learning methods with science, fresh technologies and cognition from the experience of modern conflicts.
– We request to prepare fresh generations of leaders capable not only of defending our country, but besides of setting out the directions for its development, so we emphasize the interdisciplinaryness of education, modern skills specified as crisis management, analysis of cyber threats and cooperation between state and global institutions," the gene said. After the appeal at the solemn assembly, the university's rector accepted the pledge of first-year students and PhD students and gave diplomas to habilitated doctors.
The academic year 2024/2025 at the Academy of War Art began 2,400 students, including 1,100 first year, 45 PhD students, and 250 civilian postgraduate students. They will be educated in 12 college courses. Additionally, as part of the Professional Improvement System, nearly 3,400 soldiers will besides start learning.
