The first patients have already been admitted, from a tiny 1 and a half years old to older people who require aid – said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who visited a field infirmary in Nysa today. The facility launched the military after the flood destroyed the region hospital, and the sick had to be evacuated.
The field hospital, or, more specifically, half the medical facility, stood in Nysa in 1 day and present began to receive patients. Its plan is modular. So far, the military has only built these in conflict zones. The only exception was the hospital, which formed during the pandemic at Wroclaw Military Airport For soldiers returning from abroad missions, in case 1 of them is infected with coronavirus.
Now military medics will be helping patients in Nysa. The region infirmary in town was flooded a fewer days ago by a flood. Patients had to be evacuated on pontoons, boats and on board helicopters. She was besides active in cooperation Air Emergency Unit 25 Air Cavalry Brigade. The military provided containers and a shelter base to the square close the urban sports hall. any of them are suitable for medical, RTG, ultrasound and laboratory procedures. Half the infirmary in Nysa has an internal-surgical profile. “This is the request of the civilian population of the city and region,” says Major Mikołaj Kędzierski, the commander of the facility. It contains a two-bed area of increased reflection and 25 beds for patients requiring hospitalisation and further medical procedures or waiting for transport. Currently, Nysa infirmary staff consists of over 50 soldiers including doctors, nurses, paramedics and technical-logistics safety soldiers.
In Nysa Field Hospital, first evaluation of patients will be performed and life-saving activities will be performed if necessary. Military medics will prepare the sick in severe condition to transport to higher level facilities. Since specified transport could take place by air, it was essential to prepare a safe landing ground for helicopters nearby.
Containers, i.e. infirmary modules can be combined into any configuration. This plan provides large flexibility and adaptability, as it can be joined at any time by further modules, creating a working space for fresh specialists.
Major Kędzierski, who on a regular basis serves as head of the medical department of the 2nd Military Field infirmary in Wrocław, reminds that military medics arrived in Nysa a day before the field infirmary began to rise. In order to supply medical care to residents on Tuesday, the military set up the city's first modules of mobile medical facility level 1 based on a shelter system. “These 3 integrated tents have permanent equipment and can easy be arranged quickly,” explains Major Mikołaj Kędzierski. Thanks to this military physicians in Nysa already on Tuesday afternoon helped the first patients.
How long will the military stay in Nysa? Colonel Tomasz Białas, commander of the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade, who has been involved, among others, in transporting infirmary modules, ensures that its subordinates are prepared to assist residents as long as necessary.
