On Monday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof took part in the celebration of the Netherlands Liberation Day in more than 80 kilometres from Amsterdam Wageningen.
During the press conference, Tusk was asked for an opinion on media reports concerning 1 of the housing of the presidential candidate supported by PiS Karol Nawrocki. Onet's portal stated on Monday that in 2017, Jerzy Z. - a sick 80-year-old, handed over his studio to Nawrock and his wife Marcie. In return, they were to take care of him; eventually, however, he went to a welfare home.
"It smells bad"
Tusk stated that "Mr. Nawrock's housing scandal smells bad." He added that according to his knowledge, Nawrocki was to take care of Jerzy Z., and "he took care of his apartment." "I wonder if we would like him to take care of Poland" - he said.
He stressed that he would not want Poland to "be in the situation in which Mr Jerzy found himself". As he pointed out, it will yet be the decision of voters.
Nawrocks Monday afternoon declared that he would make his property message public, if possible. He added that his co-workers are contacting the ultimate Court to "take this message and publish".
Nawrocki translates
Regarding the question of how he came into possession of this apartment, Nawrocki said He took care of "an old, sick man who had been his neighbour for years".
"I assisted him, there's quite a few evidence you don't scope out to. This is evidence that I supported this man for many years, even though I had neither unchangeable work nor financial opportunities at the time" - he argued.
Spokeswoman of Nawrocki staff Emilia Wierzbicki in a message published on social media, wrote that Jerzy Z. is the neighbour of Karol Nawrocki, whom he has been helping for many years, and that he gave money to the man to buy the apartment, which he promised to give to Nawrock for the assistance he provided.
She noted that Nawrocki has never lived in this apartment, rented it, or benefited from any property benefit, paid the fees for it to this day, while Mr Jerzy is inactive the owner of the apartment. "Contact with Mr. Jerzy broke out in December 2024. (...) Karol Nawrocki tried to find him through his neighbors and friends, but unsuccessfully” she wrote in a statement.
