By 2028 Poland will be self-sufficient in terms of ammunition production – Deputy Minister of Defence Cezary Tomczyk provided in the Sejm. MON estimates that Polish defence manufacture plants will produce 200 1000 pieces of large caliber ammunition per year. This is an increase of 3.5 1000 percent. “The accomplishment of specified abilities is simply a actual patriotism,” said Tomczyk.

Information on current ammunition production capacities and investment plans in this respect was provided on behalf of the head of the MON by the Deputy Minister of Defence Cezary Tomczyk. The Thursday speech in the Sejm was a consequence to questions on ammunition safety addressed to the Ministry's management by the Civic Coalition Group.

– Even the state-of-the-art equipment, tanks, launchers, rifles are useless in the absence of ammunition – Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk started the speech. Meanwhile, as he said, the Government of the United Right did nothing to strengthen the production capacity of national plants. Citizen Coalition politician accused the predecessors that they had stopped on top slogans of necessity development of the Polish arms industry. – Despite the outbreak of the war behind our east border, they did nothing to invest in the construction of factories in Poland. The ammunition was bought outside Poland, paying the broker as much as a billion zlotys – he noted. – Experience from Ukraine shows that the issue of ammunition stocks or, for example, fuel are elements without which the military is incapable to function. This is the basis for securing the actions of the army," explained Tomczyk.

RECLAMA

At the same time, the Secretary of State in the MON assured that "the intent of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish is to accomplish full sovereignty and ammunition self-sufficiency". Therefore, as he recalled, the government last autumn allocated over PLN 2 billion to the construction of ammunition factories. A fewer days ago, the Ministry of State Activities signed agreements with the Polish Armed Forces Group, which began the process of transferring funds from the Capital Investment Fund. “Therefore, production capacity is already expanding and will increase in principle,” he argued.

As an example of changes, he gave 155 mm ammunition production. He recalled that fighting the Russian invader Ukraine shoots about 5,000 large caliber missiles a day. – Meanwhile, at the end of 2023, Poland's production capacity in this area was 5 1000 pieces... a year! – stressed the deputy head of the MON. – Thanks to current investments, in 2028 Poland will produce a 1000 pieces a day, or about 200 1000 pieces a year. This will be an increase of 3.5 1000 percent – he calculated.

– In 2028 Poland will become self-sufficient erstwhile it comes to 155 mm ammunition – Tomczyk argued. In 3 years in Poland – as declared by KO politician – There are to be 3 fresh large caliber ammunition factories and it will be “one of the most modern machinery parks in Europe”.

According to the Deputy Minister, there was besides a revolutionary change in the case of tiny caliber ammunition. "In the last 10 months, production capacity has increased by 500 percent, up to 1 million a day," he said. This is the consequence of the expansion co-financing Mesko, in which the investment “from foundations to equipment” has been full realised over the last months. But financial support besides went to Desamet plants, Nitro-Chem and many another companies in the arms industry. “This is actual economical patriotism, actual sovereignty,” commented Deputy Minister Tomczyk. He added that the provision of ammunition stocks is 1 of the keys to preserving state security.
