The winners were exceptional people whose outstanding achievements had a strong influence on the perception of the Polish army – wrote Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a letter to participants of this year's Buzdygan Gala. For the 30th time, the award of the monthly “Army Poland” was awarded.

We've had a remarkable evening. For the 30th time, the editorial office of the monthly magazine “Army Poland” handed the Buzdigans to extraordinary people who change the face of the army with their charisma, commitment and courage. The award, called military Oskar, was received by Captain Paweł Danielak, a junior specialist in the Head of the Military wellness Service of the Armed Forces Support Office, Commander Dr. Grzegorz Krasnodębski, co-creator and vice-chief of the Marine Cybersecurity Centre at the Naval Academy in Gdynia, Brig. Dr. Rafał Miernik, commander of the 19th Lublin Mechanized Brigade, Colonel Jarosław Wacko, chief specialist in the Command of the Cyberspace defence Army Component, as well as representatives of 2 collective winners: the Enigma Symfrs Center squad in Poznań, with manager Piotr Boyarski at the head, and the Air Operations Centre – Air Component Command, with the commander of the institution, the manager General, Ireneusz Starzyński.

Symbol of strength and knowledge

The Buzdigans' Gala was held under the honorary patronage of Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Defence Ministry, who unfortunately could not attend it due to the gathering of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels. However, the Deputy Prime Minister addressed a letter to the participants of the gala in which he congratulated the winners of the award. The letter was read by Brig-Gen Artur Kolosowski, manager of the MON Operations Centre. "Let these, dating back to the roots of the 16th century, the symbols of rotmaster dignity be a sign of your highest quality professionalism, superior skills, charisma in action and worthy of the highest designation of position in your environment," wrote the Minister of Defence. He added that the winners were exceptional people whose outstanding achievements had a strong influence on the perception of the Polish army, the ethos of military service and the reasoning of Poles about safety and defence. "I am convinced that this peculiar distinction, which is an expression of admiration and respect from the military community, will be a fresh impulse for you, encouraging further exploration and discovery, but besides to effectively lead your teams and the environment," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in his letter.

On the another hand, Brig. Gen. Artur Kolosowski pointed out in his speech that today's laureates are exceptional people, honored with 1 of the most prestigious awards in the military environment. He stressed that the 30-year past of the Buzdigans was a period in the past of the armed forces abounding in large changes and transformations. The General recalled that at the time the Polish Army had to be rebuilt, a fresh strategy of action was constructed, fresh training strategies were developed, fresh equipment were purchased, and a fresh way of reasoning about defence. – Behind these changes were exceptional people, open to new, unfearing challenges and risks. People with charisma, and many of them are Buzdigan winners, noticed and appreciated," stressed CO MON director. He added that they changed the army so that present there are numerous, efficient, well-equipped, decently trained and powerfully motivated to service their homeland.

It has already become a tradition that the patron of the Buzdigans' Gala is the Polish Armed Forces Group. The winner was besides congratulated by Marcin Idzik, a associate of the PGZ-etu board. “Your work and regular commitment are unique and require appreciation,” said Idzik. As he noted, the Buzzygan household continues to grow, and it is simply a large honor to be there.

Teamwork

Six winners of this year's Buzdigans combine innovative reasoning and courage in making changes. As all year, the winners, erstwhile they received awards, emphasized that Buzzigan was most frequently due to teamwork. “There are many people behind our successes. Without their work and service they would not be possible – said Brig-Gen. Rafał Miernik, thanking, among others, his commanders, colleagues and subordinates. He besides addressed words of gratitude to his relatives and friends who supported him at work. General Irenausz Starzyński besides stressed that he represents a squad of over 300 soldiers and workers who stand defender of the Polish sky 24 hours a day. And Colonel Jarosław Wacko picked up Buzdygan dedicated to members of his team. “They were the ones who created the success for which I was awarded today,” said the officer.

The participants of today’s gathering did not forget the victims of the fresh flood that soldiers are helping. "These dramatic events have shown that the mission of the military is besides to go to people who request help," said Isabella Borańska-Chmielewski. She stressed that for those who suffered a natural disaster, the sight of the uniform became a symbol of hope. “We would like to thank those who brought aid to the floods,” said the WIW director. Gen. Artur Kolosowski added that the soldiers not only immediately rushed to the aid of the floods, but to this day they are fighting the demolition left by water. All the military assisting flood victims were applauded by guests of the gala. They besides watched a movie by “Polish Armed Forces” reporters showing the military's efforts to save the life and property of floods and to remove the effects of large water.

Buzdigans have been awarded since 1994. The originator of the award was Ireneusz Czyżewski, editor-in-chief of “Polish Soldier”. After a fewer years, the award went under the wing of the parallel “Polish Armed Forces”. Military Oskars receive people who, with their commitment, passion and charisma, influenced the improvement of the Polish army and the affirmative image of the armed forces. The winners, among the candidates submitted, choose the chapter, which includes editorial representatives and last year's Buzdigan winners.

The patron of this year's gala was the Polish Armed Forces Group. Silver partners were the WB Group and the Military Property Agency, while brown partners were: MSPO, Airbus and Armit. We thank all companies and institutions.
