At the beginning of this year, a survey was conducted on the aspirations and attitudes of young Chinese (aged 18 to 35 years). Among many questions there were besides those concerning money – their making and spending.
The survey yielded interesting results:
- precedence expenditure is:
- tourism (32.77%),
- acquisition of digital products, e.g. computer, laptop, smartphone, etc. (31.67%)
- wellness care and relaxation (31.04%).
- in the case of home tourism, among the most desirable destinations were:
- large agglomerations specified as:
- ChongQing (Metropolis in the southwest state of SiChuan),
- Beijing,
- XiaoMen (Southeastern state of FuJian)
- Shanghai and
- ChengDu (the capital of the southwest state of SiChuan).
- Prefectural cities:
- DaLi (in confederate YunNan Province, bordering Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar/Burma),
- SanYa (on HaiNan Island, the southernmost state of China),
- ZhangJiaJie (Hunan Province),
- Beihai (South GuanXi Province) and
- Guilin (South GuanXi Province).
- 28,58% of respondents are planning to increase their spending on discipline and education this year – the majority of people surviving in the South, Central and South-West China were here;
- 36.68% of respondents have an average of 1 to 3 hours of free time per day – much more than in another age groups.
- free time the surveyed spend:
- relaxing utilizing your smartphone (54.12%),
- sports (41.50%),
- buying online (39.56%).
The main companion of young Chinese in their spare time is the smartphone. And this is simply a trend that has been increasing for respective years.
- 38,57% of respondents read from 1 to 5 books a year (above the national average), the most widely read books are beletristy, Chinese classics, publications devoted to historical tradition.
- Young Chinese asked where they saw each another in 5 years said:
- healthcare sector (39.77%),
- finance, insurance, banking (34.57%),
- IT/Internet (31.16%).
At the same time, the respondents believe that the highest salaries will be obtained in finance and IT/new technologies. The level of remuneration is simply a precedence for the selection of professions, work for more than 60% of respondents.
