The basis for the motion to waive the immunity of Zbigniew Ziobro is the findings made in the proceedings of the National Prosecutor's Office Group No. 2 ... conducted on irregularities in the disposition, spending and settlement of funds from the Justice Fund – reads on the government website.
26 Crimes
At a press conference, lawyer General Anna Adamiak, informed the Marshal of the Sejm of a motion of 158 pages. She besides added that Zbigniew Ziobro, acting as minister, was to set up and run an organized crime group that took over PLN 150 million from the Justice Fund.
Zbigniew Ziobro committed 26 crimes. These actions stay in close relation to the erstwhile function of the Minister of Justice, who is besides a trustee of the Justice Fund [...], as well as the function of the lawyer General said the prosecutor.
She pointed out that the offences described in the request relate mainly to Ziobra's breach of powers and failure to fulfil its obligations.
Furthermore, the information provided by the Public Prosecutor's Office shows that Ziobro was to act to get property benefits for others and individual and political benefits for himself. According to the prosecutor, he collaborated in this with established co-workers, including deputy Marcin Romanowski and Michał Wosi and PiS MP Dariusz Matecki. Thus, as indicated, it acted to the detriment of the State and the public interest while limiting access to funds to entities which could legally apply for them.
Purchase of Pegasus
Prosecutor Anna Adamiak besides reported that on the acquisition of Pegasus spyware from the Justice Fund — for which last week, the prosecution accused erstwhile Deputy Minister of Justice and PiS MP Michał Wosi — Zbigniew Ziobro was to give Wosi an appropriate order.
At the end of September, Zbigniew Ziobro was interviewed by the Pegasus Investigative Committee, which concluded that he was liable for irregularities related to the usage of the system, and notified the prosecution of his suspicion of committing a crime. Ziobro testified before the committee that he was the initiator of the acquisition of Pegasus from the Justice Fund, at the same time pointing out that the final decision belonged to Michał Woś.
25 years imprisonment
The Advocate General has besides been asked about the possible punishment that threatens Zbigniew Ziobrze in connection with the prepared allegations concerning 26 crimes. She replied that the maximum punishment that can be imposed in this case was 25 years imprisonment.
