Basi Memory

Barbara Chojnacka, an educated psychologist, passionate historian and writer – documentaryist. After spending many years in the UK in a war environment, the London border emigration returned to, as she thought, free Poland. She felt a large request to live and work for her homeland.

Basia worked with the kids. In the 1990s, she was the manager of a child's home in Warsaw Ochota and led a nursing school. She then taught English in a agrarian school far from Warsaw, then in a seminary.
Her uncompromising attitude, and especially the emphasis on the transfer of historical cognition – the real 1 – and the critical assessment of post-circular reality in Poland did not always meet with understanding.

At her own expense, she produced documentary films involving participants of the Warsaw Uprising, including an interview-reaction with prof. Witold Kiejun. Documenting past witnesses was very crucial to her. She said that she would like to have each of these people, who are already old, frequently sick, someway rewarded for their dedication to their homeland, convey what they have been through, to young generations.

After 10.04.2010 she frequently participated in prayers under the Cross.

In June, July and September 2010, during the large flood, Basia rode with aid to the victims in the Wilkov area in Lublin. It continued in the autumn.

As of mid-February 2011, Basia joined the defence run of the home of Colonel Kukliński. She then collaborated with the portals Monumentsmoleńsk.pl and Blogpress.pl, where she posted, among others, reports from battles about honoring the Colonel.
In March, the reports besides afraid court hearings in which the suspect was Jarosław Marek Rymkiewicz. Basia went to court with an inherent recorder and camera. It accompanied the emergence of the Solidarity 2010 movement, and in May 2011, it enrolled in the Association.

She shortly became head of the Portal. message contact with the editor-in-chief was usually possible only after midnight. It was only then that Basia sat down to “discharge” editorial mail. Reading letters, announcements, articles, petitions, etc. took respective hours a day. Only a few, among others, specified a titan of work as Basia, dealt with it, without neglecting their gainful activities as a monument conservationist. Her work is truly huge. From May 2011 until autumn 2012, she posted 2045 articles.

In addition to the communicative of Baja, the upbringing of the young generation was a bit of a thrill. She was a supporter of home education; she posted a number of articles on the website solidarity2010.pl.

Basia was the initiator of the petition to the Barack Obama administration "to support the Polish Nation in setting up an global commission to explain the causes of the Smolensk disaster". To this day on the White home website, the initials "BC" are the first.

Basi's beloved “child” was the book “Lawa” from which the income was allocated to the 2010 Solidarity Association. Basia participated in almost all interviews, and 7 of them conducted themselves.

In June 2012, erstwhile she was already very ill, she participated in the 2010 Solidarnych Pickets, among another things before the National Stadium during the Euro, claiming the fact about the Smolensk Disaster.

She was an example of a individual endowed with “the interior bush of truth.” For many of us - Her friends and friends, she was a support on the way to truly sovereign Poland.

We miss you, Basiu...
