The U.S. Navy has sent to the mediate East at least 5 state-of-the-art E-2D Hawkeye early informing and control aircraft, called drone hunters. In the company of 2 KC-46A tankers, they departed Bangor, Maine and headed east.
This is the consequence of the observations carried out present by Itamilradar, a portal tracking the movement over the Mediterranean.
The shift of these aircraft to the mediate East, as speculated by the manufacture portal Defencesecurityasia, occurs after Iranian rocket and drone attacks allegedly damaged key ground radar systems, deployed in US bases spread across respective countries of the region.
Hawkeye are much more effective compared to conventional and older E-3 Sentry designation aircraft (AWACS). They are equipped with the latest Lockheed Martin AN/APY-9 radar, which was designed to detect from very large distances many incoming maneuvering missiles and drones flying at low altitudes, making them a key tool in the fight against Iranian kamikaze drones.
