The Solino mine is now part of the Orlen Group. It has 2 salt mines: Mountain and Mogilna. It is the largest maker of brine in Poland. “The mine besides serves us as the strategical and largest oil and fuel warehouse in Poland, which provides energy safety to the full country” – it is written on the website of the Inowroclaw Salt Mine “Solino” S.A. As to whether the energy safety and safety of strategical natural materials are indeed guaranteed in Poland today, the mine employees have doubts. For years they have advocated the improvement of natural materials warehouses, but the government remains deaf to this demand." We are reasoning about gas, liquid fuels, but besides warehouses for hydrocarbons, CO2 and so on," says the president of the plant “Solidarity” in the “Solino” mine, Jerzy Gawęda. The improvement of warehouses requires a decision at central level – a broad strategy is needed for the deposits of Lubień Kujawski, Damasławek and Lazone.– Another demand, of course, is the construction of a fresh brewing house, due to the fact that it has been promised for about 20 years and no steps have been taken so far," noted Iwon Stachel-Mountain, Vice-President of the "Solidarity" plant. On the government side there is no will to talk. Hence the decision to take a hunger strike.– They protest 4 people, 4 employees. At the moment, the condition is good, but it is known that it will deteriorate overnight – Iwona Stachel-Gora
stressed. The minister of energy from PSL, Miłosz Motyka, who is the recipient of the letter "Solidarity", tries to cover the mine's belonging to Orlen.– I hear talks are going on between the company and the trade union. I hope for a good finale – said Minister Miłosz Motyka.– Only the government can decide what we are talking about. This is simply a substance of government – said Jerzy Gawęda from “Solidarity”. It is Donald Tusk and his ministers who should be afraid that in uncertain times we will have the top possible energy security.
