On 22 March 2023 a gathering was held at the Ministry of abroad Affairs with representatives of Israel on judaic youth trips to Poland, during which teenagers visit German concentration camps located in the Republic of Poland. After a pandemic break in trips and in consequence to many demands from Poles, in mid-2021 the government of Mateusz Morawiecki refused to return to excursions on the basis of the current rules, i.e. to travel of judaic youth with the participation of armed Israeli services.
– We have our services, which are very competent, well trained, well equipped and able to guarantee the safety of all Polish citizens, as well as everyone who comes to Poland. So we see no reason to treat Israel’s youth in any peculiar way – in 2021, during the debate on “a large reprivatisation bill”, declared Deputy abroad Minister Piotr Wawrzyk.
– We have a breakthrough agreement between Poland and Israel on youth visits. Its elements are the deficiency of armed agents without the consent of Poland, youth from Israel will learn places crucial for Polish history, culture and will meet with peers from Poland – stated deputy head of the MFA Paweł Jabłoński presenting the most crucial elements of the agreement.
Heads of diplomacy of Poland and Israel Zbigniew Rau and Eli Cohen have already announced an agreement on the organisation of trips of young Jews to Poland and Polish youth to Israel (one of you has heard of specified trips?).
– The agreement with Israel organizes and optimizes the principles of the organization of Israeli educational visits to Poland, besides guarantees the Polish side the anticipation of organising educational visits to Israel under the same conditions Minister Rau said.
Neither side gives details of the talks. Is it possible that the Polish power has again undercut the tail, as happened in 2018 in connection with the amendment of the Act on IPN?
