In their opinion, Poland can be obtained with 1 photograph of the candidate of the PiS for president with the president of the United States.
This belief seems hilarious to me, due to the fact that erstwhile I compose this text, I look a small to the left and see pictures of me with 3 U.S. Presidents. All together and no of them brought me a thousand-millimeter closer to gaining power in Poland, not only due to the fact that I did not aspire to it for a second and did not search it.
And fortunate they didn't, due to the fact that a country in which a photograph of any abroad leader would bring a man closer to power in its own country should be called Bantusstan.
I am writing this text on 2 May and next day is simply a national vacation for the adoption of the Constitution on 3 May. Poles, I have the impression, they like them very much, but mainly due to association with the Mayan, a fewer days off work, with usually beautiful weather.
In fact, though, it is simply a sad, large festival of disappointed hope. We celebrate the last, in total, desperate and unsuccessful effort to improvement the country and save the dying homeland.
About 500 metres from where I live, in the area adjacent to the bathroom of the botanical garden, stands an different dome building. This remains the place where 233 years ago, on May 3, 1792, on the anniversary of the Constitution's adoption on May 3, an erection act was set up under this place to stand the Temple of Providence (not yet God's). The temple was to be a thank-you vote for the adoption of the Constitution, and the ceremony was attended by King Stanislaus August Poniatowski.
I am close to this place almost all day and invariably I am moved. 3 years later, the Polish state ceased to exist, the country disappeared from the map of Europe, and the king was no longer king. A year earlier, in October 1794, after losing at the conflict of Maciejowice, Tadeusz Kościuszko shouted: Finis Poloniae – the end of Poland – and in fact it was the end of Poland.
But then, precisely 233 years ago, the king seemed to be able to save Poland? Interesting. After a while Poland fell into the hands of Russia, but in fact it was more than 70 years under its curatela. This was the consequence of errors, foolishness and selfishness of rulers and magnates, for whom long their own purse was more crucial than the destiny of the country. Traitors and sellers have treated Repnin, Ambassador to Catherine's Tsar in Warsaw for years, as a de facto sovereign of the state.
They took money and instructions from him, how the authority of the Tsarics over Poland formalize, and the full state annihilated. They felt that it was much better for the country than reforms and allowing "dangerous" currents from the West and Europe here. Everything was better for them than Europe and enlightenment. Even treason. Even Targowice.
Traitors and bargainers treated Repnin more or little like Trump's PiS. After all, the PiS should know that Trump is simply a Moscow man almost as much as Repnin was a St. Petersburg man. But they prostrate before him, they kiss his ass, they study to his own government, they beg him for photos, they are ready to kneel and prostrate before him, if only by a centimeter closer to returning to power in Poland.
And since it would besides bring Moscow closer to regaining influence in Poland, it's a tiny thing for them. Old vassalism and servillism in a fresh installment. Targowice-bis. Anything against Europe, modernity, the West, tolerance, enlightenment. A lot has to change so little.
But with history, you should be careful. It took more than 200 years to wait for the Temple of Providence and I see it from the same area where the windows on the another side overlook the Bathrooms, the botanical garden, and closer, almost outside the window, to Belvedere.
The Polish flag hangs proudly over Belvedere now, not only on Flag Day, and I think present about 5 October 1939, erstwhile Poland, like 233 years earlier, ceased to exist, and after the triumph parade in Ujazdowski Avenues and welcoming the victorious Wehrmacht troops before it, Hitler came to Belvedere, where there was no marshal for more than 4 years and where for respective days our flag was no longer hanging.
Can you imagine the trauma of the Warsawers from that day and from 1795, almost 150 years earlier? Finis Poloniae again. There are no jokes about history, and accidents are not only about people, but besides about countries.
God will, next period Poles will elect a decent man as president. I hope it's not a gang friend who thinks the pass to Belvedere will be a photograph of him with a sociopath from the White House. That is all and so much to want Poland on the vacation and on the eve of the holiday.
And I want Mr.Nawrock-Batyr himself a image with the president of the United States would be at his house, however, in memory of the failure of the campaign, which would be, as for me, my pictures with the Presidents of the United States, a souvenir so nice, but – let us agree – not peculiarly important.
