Expenses of the Russian budget in 2022 increased by 26%. According to data from the Ministry of Finance of Russia, their highest fell in December, erstwhile 22% of the yearly funds were spent. The year-on-year deficit as of December 2022 amounted to 3.9 trillion rubles and compared to 2021. Budget revenues increased by 4.9%, while expenditures increased by 43%. A crucial part of it was the cost of the war. In 2023, an increase in the expenditures of the Ministry of defence by 5 trillion rubles (an increase of 17%) and the Ministry of Interior Ministry by 4.4 blm rubles (15%) was foreseen.
