Minister of abroad Affairs of Belarus Maxim Ryzankou hopes that Belarus will renew its relations with its neighbours with the EU, and most rapidly with Poland.

“Of course”, the minister replied to the BelTA agency’s question of whether it is expected to warm relations with European neighbours.

The head of the Belarusian MFA expresses hope that Poland will “close the chapter” concerning Belarusians who have left the country, and will start working with the Belarusian authorities.

“To be honest, I am counting on restoring cooperation with Poland as shortly as possible. It is simply a country that sees itself as a actual regional leader and does everything to accomplish that — a pragmatic policy in which it cannot afford any gaps. The road with our escapees is nowhere. I think they will realize this, they will close this chapter and start building cooperation in the interests of the nations on both sides of the border, returning to commercial and economical cooperation with Belarus,” said Ryjankou.

Ryjankou called Lithuania unpredictable and stated that Minsk would consider whether it was worth resuming cooperation.

“Lithuania is simply a country where politicians unfortunately do not think about their people. They are not obliged to the Lithuanian people, but to committeesin Brussels or Washington. They'll do whatever they're told. It makes them unpredictable. It is hard to work with a partner who wakes up with a headache and falls asleep with a toothache, which causes changes in his mood. And erstwhile there is simply a chance of reopening cooperation, we will gotta think respective times about how to open this window and whether it should be opened at all," said the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs of Belarus.

He besides mentioned relations with the United States. In his opinion, establishing a dialog with Donald Trump became a key accomplishment of Belarusian abroad policy in the last year.

“The key accomplishment of abroad policy in 2025 is to establish a trust-based communication with the president of the United States. We all see how Donald Trump's words and actions turn the European Union upside down. And our president talks to him like he's equal, discussing different subjects. The opinion of the president of Belarus on Ukraine, Venezuela and another issues is valuable to the American leader. Our ship is on its course on a rough sea, and it is thanks to him who stands behind the rudder," said Alexander Lukashenko Ryjankou.
