Interview with Volodymyr Zelenski was conducted by Martha Raddatz, the world's leading correspondent for ABC News, for this week's program. The conversation took place in the western part of Ukraine, on the premises of a manufacturing facility owned by an American company, which was late the mark of Russia's rocket attack.
The writer raised the question of Vladimir Putin's proposal. Russian leader assured that "he was never against gathering Zelenski" and added, "If Zelenski is ready, let him come to Moscow. This gathering will take place."
Vladimir Putin proposes a gathering in Moscow. Zelenski's Acute Response
Volodymyr Zelenski responded to Putin's proposal. He can come to Kiev. I can't go to Moscow erstwhile my country is under rocket fire all day, under attack. I cannot go to the capital of this terrorist," he stressed.
According to Zelenski, the Russian leader "understands this", so he does not want to meet during the ongoing war. The president of Ukraine stated that Putin's proposal was in fact an effort to "put it down", while he himself is "ready to talk in any format".
– If individual does not want to meet during the war, of course he can propose something that will not be acceptable to me or to others," said the Ukrainian leader. In an interview with Raddatz he besides said that "Putin tries to play with the US".
As ABC reminds, the Ukrainian abroad Minister Andrij Sybiha indicated this week 7 countries that would be willing to host peace talks with Zelenski. It is Austria, the Vatican, Switzerland, Turkey and 3 Gulf countries.
The efforts so far in favour of the Putin and Zelenski gathering are supported, among others, by US president Donald Trump, who has repeatedly declared that he wants to bring about the gathering of both leaders and the end of the war in Ukraine. Thursday, he announced that he would shortly be speaking to a Russian on the phone. Let's add that Trump's August gathering with Putin in Alaska has caused large controversy.
