Yesterday's session of the Sejm shook public opinion. The Confederate MP for the fresh Hope Party, Richard Wilk, was spotted in the plenary area under the influence of alcohol. Following the intervention of the talker of the Sejm, Simon Holown, the politician was escorted out of the area by his organization colleague, Grzegorz Płacz. Today, Wilk issued an authoritative message in which he admitted to combating alcohol disease.
“I am sorry and I am fighting further” – Wilk’s statement
In his statement, Ryszard Wilk wrote:
“I am very sorry for my behaviour yesterday. I'm at the club's disposal. I tried to do my work conscientiously, but I'm losing to alcohol. I tried to make this right, but as it turned out these attempts failed. I don't hang gloves – I fight on. My next step will be to be treated and treated.”
These words caused mixed reactions. On the 1 hand, the politician was praised for his honesty and decision to take treatment, on the another hand – questions arose about his further future in politics.

Marshal Holovnia intervenes
During yesterday's meeting, Marshal Simon Holovnia had no uncertainty about the state of Mr Wilk. After noticing different behaviour, the politician ordered him to leave the plenary room. His fellow organization member, Grzegorz Płaczek, took care of the removal of the MP.
This is not the first time that the behaviour of Members of Parliament has been controversial. However, this time the substance concerns not only violations of regulations, but besides public wellness and the work of politicians for their actions.
What about Richard Wilk's career?
Wilk announced that he did not quit the fight – both with illness and with the function of an MP. His decision to take therapy may be crucial for a further political career. The Confederate Club has not yet issued an authoritative position on the matter, but any experts propose that Wilk may be suspended in the rights of a organization associate until treatment is completed.
In the past, akin situations occurred in Polish politics, and their finals were different. any politicians returned to public office after taking therapy, others decided to end their careers.
Public reactions
Mr Wilk's case caused a social media storm. Many users expressed support for the policy, appreciating its courage in admitting the problem. Others criticized him for not being liable and compromising the image of the Sejm.
"It is sad that politicians who should be a model do not cope with their own weaknesses," wrote 1 commentator. Others stressed that alcohol sickness is simply a serious problem that requires knowing and support.
Summary
The case of Mr Wilk shows how crucial it is to address wellness problems among those in public office. His decision to take therapy can be an example for others, but besides a test for the Polish political scene – is he ready to support his members in hard times?
We look forward to further developing the situation and deciding the Confederate Club on this matter.
