The president is pressuring Brussels on Mercosur: either now or at all

EU legislators negotiated on Wednesday the final form of the safeguard clause for the European Union trade agreement with the South American block Mercosur. Earlier on Wednesday, Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated that "if we don't do this now, Brazil will not make this deal until he is president".
