Statement on the repatriation of Poles from abroad

Communities focused in Academic civilian Clubs with large appreciation and approval accepted the initiative of Senator Grzegorz Bierecki to revive the process of repatriation of Poles who were abroad Homeland as a consequence of planet War II and earlier and later exports of Polish citizens to the russian Union.

With any disappointment, we accept a comparatively tiny interest in the Polish public. We are of the opinion that any individual of Polish origin, feeling relationships with Poland – regardless of their place of residence and degree of cognition of the language – should be able to return. It is simply a substance of moral work of the Polish state and all Pole in the country. It is with large regret that this apparent work of the homeland towards its citizens has not been finalised for decades.

Equally crucial is the moral work to make amends to the peoples of the 20th - century disasters. A drastic example is the destiny of Poles in Kazakhstan – descendants of compatriots exported in 1936, who did not renounce Polish and Catholicism to avoid deportation.

The Polish State should besides have obligations to emigration from the 1980s, erstwhile a multi-thousands group of activists of “Solidarity” was induced to emigrate by the Communist safety Service. These mostly energetic and trusted people in their environments could greatly benefit from the reconstruction of free Poland, and their deficiency is simply a serious weakening of national potential.

Despite the existence of a full department of the Ministry of abroad Affairs dealing with repatriation, the effectiveness of its activities is astoundingly low – cases involving families from Kazakhstan last up to 10 years. It seems that regardless of the ruling option, there was no political will to address this hard topic. This is why the initiative of Senator Grzegorz Bierecki, although late, is peculiarly valuable.

An additional demographic argument must be added to this fundamental moral-political argument at the present time. The number of Poles in our country is steadily decreasing, the number of people on the labour marketplace is decreasing and labour immigration becomes necessary. The experience of Western countries teaches that the negative social impact of bringing in the culturally abroad workforce in the long word outweighs the transitional economical benefits. Therefore, the deficiency of human resources of a developing economy should not be met by bringing workers from distant cultural circles. We should first mention to the many Polish diaspora spread in many places of the globe as a natural resource for plans for remigration.

For these essential reasons, Academic Citizens' Clubs full support Senator Grzegorz Bierecki's task on repatriation facilities. Moreover, we ask the president of Poland, the Sejm and the Government to take immediate action. And to all political parties and civilian groups and the full Polish public – to support this purpose.

Poland should become home to all those who feel Polish, have Polish origin and want to return to their ancestors' homeland, from which they were driven out of their fate.
