The president of Belarus convened a gathering summarizing the results of a comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces. any 300 people attended the meeting, including the commander of the inspection units.

A large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces, ordered by the President, began in Belarus on 16 January 2026. A key component of the inspection was its organisation. The president has put military units on alert, bypassing the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff. During the inspection, circumstantial objectives were set: obtaining an nonsubjective picture, the actual condition of the troops and assessing the work of soldiers. The inspection was so unannounced.

The president has signed a secret order specifying the targets of the upcoming inspection. Secretary of State of the safety Council Aleksandr Wolfowicz received a sealed package containing a paper and went to the military unit designated by the President. At the request of the Belarusian leader, Vasily Gierasimov, president of the State Control Committee, besides participated in the inspection.

Aleksander Lukashenka personally supervised the inspection, regularly listening to the reports of the Secretary of State of the safety Council. At the same time, the head of state announced a summary of the inspection results at a separate meeting. "There are any shortcomings, but in general the army is ready to fight. We will find the details later," the president noted in an interview with journalists.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, Aleksander Lukashenka offered a completely sincere discussion about the results of the inspection, without hiding anything. "Though it was a regular inspection, it was the first specified a large inspection in the past of independent Belarus", the president stressed.

The head of state stressed that the goal was fundamentally one: to check how units placed in full combat readiness would function under war conditions. "I consider these peace-time inspections a waste of money. We have no extra money," said the Belarusian leader.

"There can be no peace. We're preparing for war. That's why we created the Armed Forces, why we keep them, why people pay for our support. And in this area (and not just in this room) people must understand: we are absolutely against war. Especially our officers, our soldiers, the Armed Forces. due to the fact that we know what war is. We don't want a war, but that's what the army is for. If individual abruptly decides to talk to us and looks at us through a bow tie, we will react. This is what we are preparing for," said the head of state. "Unfortunately, the situation is that I cannot fight without you. And I want my men ready to fight. If we are ready to fight, they will fear us (it's important) and no 1 will come here. This is my goal. I think you realize that.”

The president expressed his belief that in the event of a possible armed conflict, factors specified as training officers, proficiency in the usage of weapons, physical fitness and the state of arms and military equipment would be crucial. "This is the foundation of endurance and triumph in battle," said the head of state.

“The top work for the country, for our peaceful, friendly nation, rests on each of you,” said Aleksander Lukashenka.

The Belarusian leader reiterated that a comprehensive review of the Armed Forces was carried out on a larger scale and more rigorously than always before, and was besides reasonably actively reported in the media. "I will immediately say that it has been reported in the way most of you would like. First of all, due to the fact that we did not want to uncover all the malice that exists in our army, our possible rivals, or possibly even the adversaries or enemies," he added.

The Chief of State noted that there was a widespread belief among the military that a comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces would not disagree from erstwhile inspections that everything would run as usual. "It won't be a average day, guys. I want to inform you why this isn't happening to me. due to the fact that I do not intend to conform to you – you will conform to the Chief Commander. If you want to last in the future war (don't God let it blow out), you will be the 1 who survives. And if we act like any of us, not only will we, but our subordinates die. I see it in modern clashes and wars.”

The president noted that the inspection participants were placed as closely as possible to the real challenges: “I would say more precisely: war, no substance the weather, time of day, or another factors hindering the execution of combat missions. Remember the weather.”

The Chief Commander stated that military units and units of constant readiness from the West and Northwest Operations Command, peculiar Forces, Air Force and Air Defence Forces were active in the monitoring activities. “In addition, according to my instructions, we will form a separate unit, increase its numbers if essential and learn to truly fight.”
