Old but... indispensable. Tu-95 bombers in attacks on Ukraine [ANALYSIS]

There have been at least 2 Ukrainian attacks on Russian strategical aviation bases in fresh weeks. harm was sustained primarily by Tu-95 bombers of unknown versions. Why would a simplification in their fleet affect Russia's ability to carry out attacks? And why do Russians usage these judged, sometimes ridiculed by mainstream constructs?
