Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed in his latest speech that Poland recorded economical growth of 3% in the last quarter. In a video published on the X platform, he turned to critics, asking them provocatively: “Glass to you?”

Tusk did not specify who he meant exactly, but it can be assumed that his comment was addressed to opposition politicians and skeptics towards current economical policy. He besides announced that 2025 will be a year of large breakthrough.

Current economical situation of Poland – data of the European Commission

Gold on a historically strong position towards the euro

The last days proved to be very beneficial for the Polish currency. Gold has strengthened by more than 1%, reaching the highest value compared to the euro for 5 years. Currently, the EUR/PLN rate oscillates around 4,20And marketplace analysts wonder if he can break that intellectual barrier.

Experts indicate respective key factors that have affected the strengthening of the gold:

  1. Weakening customs concerns – Donald Trump's policy towards Europe seems little confrontational than before, reducing force on emerging marketplace currencies.
  2. Improving economical indicators in Europe "The slight recovery of the economy in the European Union has a affirmative impact on the region's currencies.
  3. Monetary policy of NBP – interest rates in Poland stay comparatively advanced 5.75 percent., and the president of the National Bank of Poland Adam Glapiński suggests that reductions may happen later than anticipated.
  4. The geopolitical situation – A somewhat more predictable U.S. position on the Russian-Ukrainian War and possible support for Ukraine can influence the stabilisation of markets.

Polish economy against the background of Europe – optimism or caution?

Despite affirmative information on GDP growth, economical data propose caution in assessing the economical situation. The decline in indicators in services, retail and construction sectors shows that challenges inactive exist.

Will 2025 truly prove to be a breakthrough for the Polish economy? It's a question to which we will know in the next months. 1 thing is certain – both the government and experts will carefully follow developments.
