Jelcz gets stronger

In Raciborz in the halls of the erstwhile Rafako factory, Jelcza vehicles will be produced. The Agency for Industrial Development, the Polish Armed Forces Group, RFK and Jelcz have signed a letter of intent which is intended to consequence in the acquisition of a stake in the Racibor company by a national defence holding company and the launch of production of chassis for military vehicles manufactured by Jelcz.

Jelcz being part of Huta Stalowa Wola's capital group is now the largest maker in Poland dedicated to the military of various types and sizes of trucks: from classical 4x4 (two axles) to multi-ton 10x10 (five axles).

In Jelcz in Laskowice there are besides chassis on which both peculiar components, specified as telecommunications nodes, are mounted, but besides weapon systems, including, for example, multi-guided lobster-A and lobster-K rocket launchers.

Representatives Polish Armed Forces Group S.A.., to which HSW and Jelcz belong, they do not hide that the company from Laskowice presently has quite a few orders and precedence is to increase its production capacity importantly as shortly as possible. The letter of intent signed in Raciborz on 14 October by representatives of the Agency for Industrial improvement and Companies: PGZ, Jelcz and Raciborska Fabryka Components (RFK).

The paper concerns the production assets of the no longer existing company Rafako S.A., whose assets were taken over by RFK established by the ARP, the “Silesia” Financial Society and Polimex Mostostal.

As he emphasizes Adam Leszkiewicz, president of the PGZ-et, the areas that the RFK presently has can be adapted comparatively rapidly by Jelcz to military production. “We have applied to the Agency for Industrial improvement in order to benefit from the possible of the property in Raciborz,” says Leszkiewicz. As he informs, there is both land and production halls to be taken over.

– Their usage will let us to increase the volume of production of vehicles based on Jelcz chassis more quickly, due to the fact that we will save the time needed to invest in fresh infrastructure – explained the president of PZZ-et. He adds that thanks to this business-based long-term investment, the company will be able to respond better and faster to the increasing needs of the military. “However, the heart of Jelcz will inactive be in Jelcz-Laskowice, where a fresh plant will stand in the period of 4–5 years”, stressed Leszkiewicz.

As Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who visited Racibórz on 14 October, at the site where the Rafako mill erstwhile existed, will find more than 500 people, which will besides give impetus to the improvement of the city. The Head of Government stressed that both entities would benefit from the merger of the RFK with Jelcze. – This is not a donation, but a very well-thought-out business program that will bring profit will strengthen our security. Jelcz saves Racibórz, but besides Racibórz saves Jelcz," said the Prime Minister.
