President Andrzej Duda announced work on a fresh constitution for Poland. In an interview with Poland24 after his oath, he stated that the current basic law has been regularly broken in the last 2 years.

Duda explained that the fresh constitution "will surely be an effort to systematize what is happening in Poland". He besides stressed that "The Constitution after these nearly 30 years surely requires reflection".

Constitutional Council and referendum

The president announced that he would shortly establish a constitutional council. If "political environments don't work out" about the state system, Duda is considering holding a referendum next year.

The reason may be the continued destabilisation of the Polish state, as the president said in an interview.

At the same time, Duda asked the Constitutional Court to examine Waldemar Żurek's Regulation on the allocation of cases to judges.
