Run an recognition of the opponent's position, prepare an ambush on the column of logistics vehicles, hit the installations liable for the transmission of gas from the air – these are only part of the tasks that the soldiers active in the "Dronowisko ʼ25" had to perform. The exercise was organized by the 125th Battalion of the Light Infantry from Leszno.

The thought of the “Dronowiska” was born a fewer months ago. – Unmanned air systems have revolutionized the modern battlefield, so we want to gather as much cognition about their usage as possible. We want to exchange experiences not only with soldiers but besides with civilian specialists and enthusiasts – explains Colonel Wojciech Gosiewski, commander of the 125th Light Infantry Battalion from Leszno. The first, organized in June, was limited to discussion panel and workshops. However, the inventors rapidly followed the blow. The next edition of “Dronowiska” took the form of two-day exercises. – Soldiers took part not only in almost all WOT brigades, but besides in operational troops. We were supported by representatives of civilian associations – explains Colonel Gosiewski.

From designation to destruction

Minor infantry units operated in Leszno for over a day. They were divided into 2 rival groups with command points in Gostyń and fresh Belęcin. The script included respective episodes. During each of them various types of unmanned vehicles were used. – Soldiers had to conduct an aerial reconnaissance of the enemy's forces, but besides of the area in which they would come to carry out actions aimed at him. On this basis, for example, they chose the most convenient place to organize an ambush – explains the spit. An industrialist from the Lesch battalion. Its mark was logistics vehicles. The actions of the light infantry at all times were coordinated from the air by unmanned vehicles equipped with thermal cameras. "In the mediate of the night, soldiers of 1 side were besides instructed to arrange reinforcements with sand-filled bags. We wanted to see if our opponent could detect them from the air with BSP. And this play was successful for him – the officer admits.

Another task active attacking critical infrastructure. Here the mark was an object acting as a gas node. – Soldiers utilized a shock drone to destruct it, which was to match the Shahed unmanned Russian army. The attackers besides reached for tiny FPV drones, from which they dropped imitations of tiny bombs and means of visualizing the battlefield [under this name there are smoke candles or bang grenades – ed.]" Przemysław.

Now it's time for conclusions.

During the training, soldiers of both sides utilized the ATAK application. It enables commanders to monitor the location of their sub-divisions and to facilitate their management. The script besides assumed that the 2 groups would control roles all erstwhile in a while so that each group could train different types of activities. “At the end of the “Dronowiska” we summarized the activities operating in the field of subdivisions. We have discussed what we have achieved and what needs work. Now, on the basis of this, papers are being created, which will go to our superiors – said Colonel Gosiewski. They are intended to service as a material for a broader analysis of the tactics of light infantry sub-divisions and their usage of unmanned aircraft systems. Meanwhile, the Leszczyn battalion is slow preparing for the next edition of “Dronowiska”. “We plan to extend the workshop to 4 to 5 days,” the territory Commander of Leszno reveals.

The 125th Light Infantry Battalion is part of the 12th Wielkopolska Territorial Defence Brigade.
