The number of fresh orders to build ships in China increased by 44 percent in the first half of that year compared to the erstwhile year. They account for nearly 75 percent of orders for fresh ships worldwide, an increase of 8 percent points compared to the erstwhile year.
At the same time, Chinese shipyard production increased by 18.4%, representing 55 percent of the full global shipbuilding production capacity. The net profit of Chinese largest shipyards increased by almost 188 percent to RMB 16 billion (about PLN 8.68 billion) compared to the erstwhile year, while their gross increased by 26 percent to RMB 253.2 billion (about PLN 138.72 billion). A large share of this success of Chinese shipyards has exports, which increased by 91.1% in the first half of the year. This is the highest rate among key export goods, well above the rate of growth in car exports. This was 22.2% in the first half of this year.
According to data published by the China Shipbuilding manufacture Association (chin. 中国船舶工业协会), in 2023 China ranks first among the 18 major types of ships built in the planet in 14 categories, especially as regards
- bulk carriers,
- tankers,
- container ships and
- Motor cars.
The Chinese shipbuilding manufacture is "wide-ranging". Ships of all types are built in the shipyards there. The “Corona clones” are: the plan and equipment of cruisers, the construction of large liquefied gas tankers (LNG) and... aircraft carriers. The Chinese shipbuilding manufacture has had the largest share of the global marketplace in the manufacture in 14 years. In all 3 key indicators (new orders, ships in production and ships transferred to the shipowner) their global share exceeds 50 percent on average.
China Shipbuilding manufacture Association in its study states that all major Chinese shipyards have full order portfolios by the end of 2027 and any even by the end of 2028.
