Agnieszka Pawlik-Regulska: Teachers won the Sejm!

On the Day of National Education, more than 150 teachers, directors of educational institutions, parents, trade union activists and non-governmental organisations took part in a full-day educational conference held in the column hall of the Polish Parliament, “Polish school – deconstruction and reconstruction foundations”, which was sponsored by Deputy Marshal of the Polish Parliament Krzysztof Bosak, and organized the Association “Teachers for Freedom” in cooperation with the Coalition for the Polish School's Salvation.

A letter to the participants was sent by Prof. Adam Waśko, advisor to the president of Poland, president of the Council for Family, Education and Education at the president of the Republic of Poland, in which he stressed that “the future reconstruction of the Polish school would not be possible without the active participation of the teachers' elite. [...] all the people teaching at the board, who do it out of a teacherly vocation.”
Jolanta Dobrzyńska, an educational expert, associate of the said Council, diagnosed the state of the Polish school, assessed it as a school of post-truths, post-standards, post-knowledge.
Bartosz Kopczyński, writer and social strategy analyst from the Society of Social cognition stated that in the planned change of the education strategy "man will know only what the strategy will appoint him, and not a word more, and only for this intent to be useful to the system". He besides made an appeal to the opposition to find out what was going on and, erstwhile he returned to power, immediately withdrew what had already been introduced.
Hanna Dobrowolska, an educational expert from the School Protection Movement, led a panel in which teachers and mothers took part, talking about learning problems in besides large classes, with many foreigners not speaking Polish, many children with judgments, frequently without a supporting teacher, with a deficiency of homework and a truncated basis, causing children to spend more and more time in front of computer or smartphone screens.
The task of the alleged alumni profile was besides critically assessed, which was designated anti-developmental, anti-Polish, anti-Catholic, anti-European, egocentric and anti-family by the president of the NATAN Pedagogy Association. Agnieszka Marianowicz-Szczygieł from the “She and He” Institute discussed issues of diversity, discrimination, respect in the context of LGBTQ+.
In the final part of the conference, Dr. Artur Górecki, Rector of the Collegium Intermarium, stated that "the changes that are being implemented in the field at the minute are dangerous and highly destructive due to the fact that they are directed against the real well-being of man." He pointed out that it is crucial to specify who a man is, not “what kind of man there is today.”
Mec. Jerzy Kwasniewski, president of the Ordo Iuris Institute, stated that further governments through dozens of actual actions, accepted global recommendations, standards allowed more and more to interfere with the Polish education strategy and made Poland not sovereign in the field of education. He spoke about the rule of subsidiarity, highlighting the precedence of parents in raising children and encouraging civilian disobedience in the context of the planned mandatory subject wellness education
During the discussion, Waldemar Jakubowski, president of the Education and Education Section of NSZZ “Solidarity”, said that the blame for the current state of the Polish school falls on the full elite not only political but besides social Poland. He assessed that we function in cognitive and organizational chaos and that there was never a real strategy for the improvement of education. He besides criticized the postgraduate profile project.
At the end of Agnieszka Pawlik-Regulska, president of the Association “Teachers for Freedom” called for the school to cease to be the arena of political conflict between various political groups, claiming that what can aid the Polish school get out of the crisis is its depoliticisation and surrender to independent experts, specialists and teachers – practitioners who know the school from the inside.
