Even a 100 people, including soldiers, officers, and civilians, can take part in the 3rd edition of the utmost challenge, and in just 3 days it will cover 240 kilometres. The “Miron Memorial” is organized to commemorate the Petty Officer of the Commando Military Unit of the St. Chor. staff. Mirosław “Miron” Łucki, who died on a mission in Afghanistan.

The founder of the memorial and its main organizer is St. Chor. dir. Krzysztof „Mixu” Mik, erstwhile operator Commando Military UnitAnd then the head of the selection of candidates for the Lublin unit. The task is co-organised by the Foundation “I support quietly and effectively” and the Commandos Military Unit. The thought of the memorial is to commemorate the JWK operator Mirosław Łucki, ps. “Miron”, who died in Afghanistan on August 24, 2013.

Miron's memorial is an utmost sporting challenge. The participants in the struggle, while travelling in the field roads and forest dukes, gotta cross just over 240 km in 3 days. They travel from Chodzieża in Wielkopolska Voivodeship, i.e. the village where he was born and raised "Miron", to Dziwnow in Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship, where the yearly Komandosa Festival is held.

– After the last 2 editions of the memorial, we know how many people want to celebrate the memory of Petty Officer JWK. Not everyone, however, is fit to meet this challenge. We decided to meet them – he says “Mixu”. And that's why this year the organizers divided the memorial into 3 stages. Each episode will measurement about 80 kilometres, which will should be beaten in 24 hours. - We'll all take off on August 21. Those who have declared to participate in 1 phase of the accrual will finish their conflict after 24 hours. The utmost march, on the another hand, will be continued by those who have chosen to take part in 2 or 3 stages and go 160 or 240 kilometres respectively – explains “Mixu”.

This year the organizers accepted that a 100 daredevils would attend the event. As before, soldiers, officers of various services and civilians – women and men – encourage utmost competition. Each of the players will beat the way with a dense backpack where they will carry food and drink and camping equipment. Those who can't stand the pace and the burden will fall off as they march.

Party attendance is paid. The income from the memorial will be allocated to the statutory activity of the Foundation “I support quietly and effectively”, which deals, among others, with the financing of treatment of severely sick children of peculiar troops. Mirosław Łucki was associated with the Commandos Military Unit (previously with the 1st Commandos peculiar Regiment) since 1997, then served for 4 years in the GROM, and in 2009 returned to JWK. He served on a mission in Iraq and 3 times in Afghanistan. He was an operator of the “C” Combat Team.

On the night of 23-24 August 2013, the Petty Officer participated in a peculiar operation. Its goal was to destruct the ammunition depot to be utilized to attack Ghazni Base. As it later turned out, operators fell into an ambush prepared much earlier. During the service “Miron” was killed, and there were many wounded among Poles and Afghans cooperating with them.

Mirosław Łucki was posthumously promoted to elder staff officer, awarded with an entry in the Book of Honor of the Polish Army and awarded with the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Military Cross and the Cross of Merit for Courage. Last year “Miron” became the patron of the Combat squad “C” of the Commando Military Unit. On the another hand, in May 2024 his name was adopted by the U.S. peculiar Forces base located in Podkrakowy Balice. ‘Camp Miron” is the easternmost base of American peculiar forces in Europe
