On Thursday 15 January, an arrest session was scheduled for erstwhile Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobra. They have already been postponed before – through the mistaken failure of classified materials. Now there's another theme.
Culls of postponement of the Ziobry detention session
Ziobra's defenders applied to exclude the judge, because, as they say, there are serious doubts about its impartiality. Mec. Bartosz Lewandowski mentioned, among others, "the affiliation of the justice to the Association of Judges of Iustitia and its unequivocally declared position on matters of political direction". Let us add that the case of Zbigniew Ziobry is dealt with by justice Agnieszka Prokopowicz.
This proposal so became the reason why the sitting was postponed until 5 February. Proc. Piotr Wozniak besides spoke before journalists. He judged that the decision of the court from a formal point of view was correct – specified a request must be heard. At the same time, he objected to the exclusion of the judge.
He's in the asylum department. The D.A. wants to file 26 charges against him.
The D.A. wants to arrest Ziobra and charge him with 26 charges, including the setting of competitions for multimillion grants from the Justice Fund for the regulation of the Law and Justice. In early November 2025, the Sejm waived the erstwhile minister's immunity and agreed to his detention and temporary arrest.
Ziobro went to Budapest in the meantime. The fact that he got political asylum there, we officially learned on January 12.
But, as the Vice president of Law and Justice himself spoke, the case was already "kicked" last December. Furthermore, it has besides become apparent that the Hungarian authorities have changed the rules so as to prevent the execution of the European Arrest Order against 'political refugees' fleeing over Balaton.
