Attorney-General Paprocki informed on Tuesday of the detention of a Ukrainian citizen suspected of participating in the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline. The man was detained on the basis of a European Arrest Order issued by Germany.
Proceedings in the case will begin at 1 p.m. in the territory Attorney's Office in Warsaw. "After these activities, I will be able to talk more, due to the fact that then I will know what charges are being made to my client and what will be the nearest actions in this case" - said Paprocki.
Defence position
The lawyer announced very active actions to defend his client. He stressed that the defence would act vigorously on this matter.
Paprocki presented arguments for his client, pointing to the context of the war in Ukraine. "What kind of Ukrainian citizen did not participate in these activities, given the war in Ukraine, and the fact that the owner of this infrastructure is simply a Russian company, which straight funds the war in Ukraine, it is hard to consider that these actions could be considered a crime" - he noted.
Gas pipeline destruction
On 26 September 2022 3 of the 4 strands of the 2 Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines were destroyed at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The explosions occurred at a depth of about 80 meters.
