Attorney Karolina Kuszlewicz, explaining legal issues for the “Newsnadzis” portal, reminded readers of the essence of the rules on keeping live carps. According to the regulations, it is prohibited to store carp without access to water during transport or under conditions that lead to animal pain and suffering. These attitudes are treated as a crime of animal abuse," she stressed.
The substance is very serious, as the desire to keep a Christmas customized can consequence in a punishment of up to 3 years imprisonment. In case of peculiar cruelty, the punishment may be between 3 months and 5 years in prison.
Counselor Kuszlewicz pointed out that equally severe penalties endanger to kill carp, especially if this happens without stunning, in the presence of children or in a way contrary to the applicable provisions of the Act.
