In the government app, mCitizen made her fresh debut, which will importantly facilitate the life of freshly baked parents.

As of today, the birth of a kid can be officially reported from the smartphone, which completely eliminates the request for a individual visit to the civilian State Office.

The implementation of the fresh service was informed by Deputy Minister of Digitalization Dariusz Standerski. Although it has been possible to do this authoritative formalities online since 2018 (via browser and Trusted Profile), integration straight with the most popular state application is simply a large step towards convenience. Currently, more than 11 million Poles usage the mCitizen.

Who, and under what conditions, can claim birth?

The application can be submitted by mCitizen under respective basic conditions:

  • Territory: the function applies only to children born in Poland.
  • Who reports: formalities can be completed by the parent or father of the child. It is worth remembering, however, an crucial legal exception: if the father is not the husband of the mother, the USC manager will be able to enter his data into the birth certificate only if the man has previously made a formal message of designation of paternity.

Key Date: 21 days

The Ministry of Digitisation recalls deadlines. Parents gotta study birth precisely 21 days after the birth card is issued (this paper is issued by the individual receiving the birth – a doctor or midwife – and has 3 days to transfer it to the office).

Overshooting that time has concrete consequences. If the parents do not study the kid within 21 days, the head of the civilian State Office is required to registry the birth of the public and name the kid himself.

According to preliminary data from the Central Statistical Office, last year about 238 1000 children were born in Poland. From now on, their parents can save time by taking a fewer clicks off the phone.
