According to a December survey, about 2 thirds of respondents anticipate Vladimir Putin to start peace negotiations as shortly as possible. Furthermore, most do not believe that US action will aid to end the conflict. The investigation institute of the Levada Center - recognised in Russia as an independent agency of abroad intelligence - conducted a survey asking Russians whether they support the continuation of the war in Ukraine. 25 percent of those surveyed were in favour of continuing their armed action, while 66% felt that peace negotiations should be undertaken. Compared to the October survey, the percent of those opposed to the war increased by 4 percent points in Russia. In turn, the share of supporters of continuing aggression against Ukraine decreased by 5 percent points, reaching the lowest value throughout the measurement period.
