I was at a conference in the United arabian Emirates. Today's first memo on this country.
What bothered me terribly was women dressed black and blindfolded. Hot scary (were 42 degrees), men dressed in white, and women in black. As is known from physics, white clothes reflect light (i.e. heat) and black clothes absorb.
What a mean guy to dress in white and his wife in black. And cover her face, and walk alone without covering.
Democracy may not be the perfect system, but I do not imagine that in a hypothetical referendum with the question: "Can women dress white?" 51% would vote no.
It is said that women in the UAE can have a driver's licence and drive a car. I haven't seen a single female behind a wheel in a week. And the driver in all country is expected to have an exposed face, you know why.
