The lawyer General Waldemar Żurek sent a request to the talker of the Sejm, Vladimir Czarzast, for the Sejm's consent to bring criminal MP Michał Woś from the Law and Justice. The basis for the motion to waive the immunity of Michał Wosi is the findings made in the proceedings conducted by the Investigative squad appointed in the Poznań Regional Prosecutor's Office to examine the legality, legitimacy and economy of actions taken between November 2015 and 31 December 2023 in connection with the management of the Prison Service - explained.
As added, the proceedings initiated notifications by the Director-General of the Prison Service regarding the irregularities found in the establishment of the interior Prison Service Inspectorate, admissions to service and spending of funds for the Prison Service activities.
"Notices include suspected breach of powers and failure of duties by Prison Service public officials, as well as by the erstwhile Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice in charge of this institution. Irregularities were to consist, in particular, of hiring persons in the Prison Service without carrying out the required recruitment and without having adequate qualifications, and of deciding on the early broadcasting of further officer degrees in violation of the provisions of the Prison Service Act of 9 April 2010" - reads the Communication.
The Public Prosecutor's Office informs that extended evidence was collected during the proceedings, which allowed for the adoption of a reasonable suspicion that Michał Woś, between 2 February 2021 and 7 November 2023, exceeded his powers and failed to fulfil his duties as a public officer - the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice, performing permanent replacement of the Minister of Justice in matters concerning the Prison Service and the interior Prison Service Inspectorate, including the signing of administrative decisions and provisions and interior regulatory acts concerning the Prison Service.
