Deputy Prime Minister revealed a dangerous attack against Poland. "At the last minute"

On Wednesday there was a cyber attack on water and sewage infrastructure in 1 of the largest Polish cities. The case was reported by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski.


Krzysztof Gawkowski gave the information in an interview with Onet Radio, stressing that the services reacted on time. However, he did not tell what city Poland is about. “I don’t want to say in which cities, due to the fact that I don’t want to make emotions in people,” he explained.

According to the minister's report, the attack could have led to serious consequences. As he said, at the last minute, we managed to "produce that erstwhile the attack began, our services found out and shut it all down." “We managed to prevent this attack,” stressed the Deputy Prime Minister.

Attack on water infrastructure in Poland


Krzysztof Gawkowski added that Poland invests considerable resources in fresh programmes for water and sewage companies. The Minister of Digitization besides praised the effectiveness of the services, pointing out that 99 percent of cyber attacks on Poland manage to thwart.

On Wednesday, a conference of the National Prosecutor's Office of Przemysław Nowak was held. He spoke about cyber attacks on Poland and Polish infrastructure. They intensified after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022.

– For the first time since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, we have noticed a increasing trend in sabotage cases. We had proven actions commissioned by abroad intelligence, mainly Russian, in Poland, Lithuania and the Czech Republic – he revealed.
