Olympic runner-up from the Milan Games and Cortina d’Ampezzo Viktor Hald Thorup, exhibited a costume in which he won the medal. The reason is prosaic: the Danish panchnya must pay the maker for it.

According to the paper “Sjaellandske Slagelse”, after returning from the games, the athlete did not receive any financial award from the Danish Olympic Committee – only oral congratulations. Shortly thereafter, he found an Olympic dress bill in his mailbox. To be paid: 5149 Danish kronor, or about $850.

To cover the cost, the athlete decided to issue a “winner” costume at auction. He admits that he was inspired by Dutch ice skating star Jutta Leerdam, who, after winning Olympic medals, sold her outfit for an equivalent of EUR 195 000. The Danish does not anticipate a akin amount – he would simply like to rise money that would let him to pay the bill and cover basic expenses.
