Today, the alleged large Assembly of Patriots for Europe is held in Budapest. In the beginning speeches, representatives of the Viktor Orban government called for the fight against immigration and for control of the EU institutions.
– Members of the Patriot organization household for Europe gotta gain a majority in Europe to solve the migration problem," said Orbana Gergley Gulyas, head of law firm. He pointed out that asylum seekers' requests in the EU should be evaluated before entering its territory. Brussels has failed on migration "and is arrogant of it," he added.
Gulyas stressed that the problem of migration is not a question of humanitarian action but of the endurance of European culture. He noted that the percent of European citizens born outside Europe was 10%, an increase of 60% compared to the situation in 2010.
– European societies are rapidly ageing and, in the meantime, Muslim citizens in Europe are on average 13 years younger and have a reasonably advanced fertility rate, said the Hungarian authorities.
He added that Western Europe needs governments that will effectively expel illegal immigrants and integrate those who have arrived legally. He estimated that working-age migrants "should not receive any social benefits erstwhile they are not working, and until that happens, Western Europe will not be able to solve the problem of migration".
The Hungarian Minister for the European Union, Janos Boka, in turn, called for “regaining control of the institutions of the European Union”.
“Europe stands at a crossroads, and its future and sovereignty of nations are at stake,” he said. As 2 main threats to national sovereignty, he pointed out "the creeping expansion of powers" and "monopolisation of values and institutions". He added that both threats came from Brussels.
The event, organized in the capital of Hungary, is attended by representatives of Eurosceptic political parties, including Deputy talker of the Polish Parliament Krzysztof Bosak, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babisz (on-line participation), Marine Le Pen from the French National Unity, Deputy Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Salvini, president of the Spanish Vox organization Santiago Abascal, president of the Austrian Freedom organization Herbert Kickl, and leader of the Dutch Freedom organization Geert Wilders.
The main point of the gathering will be the speech of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. On the occasion of the Patriotic Summit for Europe in the Millenaris Park in Budapest, where the event was held, thematic pavilions were opened presenting Hungarian science, culture, customs and tourist offer.
The Patriots for Europe group established in 2024 presently has 84 Euro MPs, including 2 from Poland: Anna Bryłka and Tomasz Buczek (The Freedom and independency Conference). It is the 3rd largest force in the European Parliament.
