Member of the Hungarian delegation to examine the state of the pipeline relationship refused to enter Ukraine for fear of being recruited into the military, said the regular News Hungary portal.
The group, set up by the Hungarian Government decision on 4 March, was to be composed of 5 members. It was headed by Deputy Minister of Energy of Hungary Gabor Czepek. 1 of the mission members – a individual born in Ukraine Zakarpacie and inactive holding a Ukrainian passport – refused to cross the border for fear of being recruited into the military – reported the Hungarian media.
On Wednesday, Hungarian Deputy Minister of Energy Gabor Czepek reported that "the government had set up a delegation to carry out an exploratory mission on the relationship pipeline". "Our task is to measure the state of the pipeline and make conditions for re-launching it," said Czepek in a Facebook statement.
On Saturday, however, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that experts inactive do not have access to the pipeline.
In late January, the relationship pipeline, transporting Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia by Ukraine, was damaged in the Russian attack. The authorities in Kiev guarantee that the oil pipeline is being renovated, but the Government of Orban maintains that the Ukrainian authorities deliberately suspend the resumption of transit, and calls these operations "shant".
