Thanks to the work of our farmers we keep food security. They have access to fresh local products. That is why we have not allowed the crisis on the grain marketplace to deepen. On 15 September 2023 the EU embargo on imports of Ukrainian grain to Poland expired. We do not let its import – we have introduced a ban on imports at national level. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with farmers in Dęba, Lublin. He emphasized the respect of the government towards the Polish village. Our government takes care of our farmers' interests in all situation. That is why we aid them during drought, animal diseases, the food marketplace crisis and we pay for fertilizers and fuels.
Polish embargo on the import of Ukrainian cereals








Our appeal to the European Commission to extend the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain and another agricultural products into Poland and 4 another countries has not been heard. Therefore, in order to defend our country from disturbances on the cereals market, We ourselves submitted a national embargo for the import of selected Ukrainian products to Poland. It will apply until an appropriate model of cooperation has been developed with our Ukrainian neighbour. We saved the Polish village, the farms of our farmers are safe.
– We must fight for Polish agriculture, in this complicated situation. This may not be acceptable to the European Union, but if it is for the benefit of the Polish farmer, we are implementing certain regulations – ban on Ukrainian corn, Ukrainian cereals, besides Ukrainian sharps, which has destabilised the marketplace and will not destabilise again, will not contribute to marketplace instability," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
We support Polish farmer
Since 2023 97% of farms up to 50 hectares receive subsidies above the Union average. We appreciate the hard work of farmers. Therefore, thanks to our actions, Farmers, if they lost on selling grain, could apply for a surcharge. For wheat, the grant amounted to PLN 3025 per hectare. Thanks to our policy, subsidies for another cereals are besides possible. We have besides created a strategy of fertilizer subsidies and developed subsidies for agricultural fuel.

How do we support the Polish village?
- In 2022, we intended PLN 2.6 billion for fertiliser subsidies, a In 2023, it will be PLN 4.7 billion.
- We've introduced Agricultural fuel subsidieswhich trust on the refund of excise duty. Currently, the backing is PLN 1.46 per litre. This is presently the highest possible refund amount to be applied. Additionally, we will ask the European Commission for approval to grant aid of PLN 0.54/litre ON, which will increase the amount of return to PLN 2/litre oil.
- We defend crops from different weather conditions. We introduced agricultural crop insurance.
- In 2018-2019 we allocated approximately PLN 4.5 billion for aid to farmers in connection with drought.
- Simple and direct agricultural retail – thanks to our actions, farmers may sale food produced on their farm straight to consumers without limits and under favourable financial conditions.
- We increased the funds for farmers for the years 2021-2022 by around PLN 650 million, which could be allocated to farmers, among others, control of infectious diseases in animals.
- Under the agrarian improvement Programme 2014-2020 We have increased the limit of resources for land consolidation from EUR 285 million to EUR 423 million.
– Our actions already number for at least a twelve billion PLN. We never leave farmers alone. We want and will work for the Polish countryside, to strengthen Polish agriculture – the Prime Minister outlined.
Support for agrarian municipalities
On 15 September Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced results of the 6th edition of the Government strategical Investment Programme. This edition afraid assistance for the regions where the alleged PGRs operated. Earlier authorities have left out these areas in the process of transformation. Thanks to our programmes, all municipalities across Poland receive co-financing, and from these means are built, among others, water and sewage infrastructure, road infrastructure and walking.
“In the framework of the National Reconstruction Programme with Polish pre-financing, I emphasize from the Polish budget, there are agricultural processing projects, retention projects – everything that is besides structurally needed in the countryside”, stressed the head of the Polish government.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki thanked all farmers for their hard work and ensured that we will thus rebuild the functioning of the different agricultural markets, to make as much money as possible – on this road from the field to the consumer’s table – remained in the farmer's pocket.
