UP: Ukraine will propose US agreement for PPO and HIMARS systems — Zelenski

The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski informed on 8 October that the Ukrainian delegation would propose to the United States an agreement covering the acquisition of anti-aircraft systems and HIMARS launchers together with their modification to the usage of tactical ATACMS missiles. Zelenski described talks about buying weapons from the US as "Mega Deal".

— The most crucial thing in this deal is PPO systems. We are ready to buy them and usage various backing programs, including PURL," said the president during the briefing. He added that Ukraine would primarily negociate the supply of Patriot systems, which are already in Ukrainian formations.

Mr Zelenski besides reported affirmative signals regarding the anticipation of utilizing funds related to frozen Russian assets under the partner warrant mechanism. He expressed hope that Britain would join the PURL (Priorized Ukraine Requirements List).

The president stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine request weapons for both defence and long-range strikes, including HIMARS, ATACMS and Tomahawk.
