Ukrainian media spread fake news regarding alleged call of Western commercial companies to boycott Polish companies

Ukrainian propaganda media known for spreading Kiev propaganda provided false information, suggesting that trade associations from 4 European Union countries called for a boycott of Polish carriers due to a protest on the border.

However, precisely, this initiative came from organisations supporting trade cooperation with Ukraine, which was only briefly mentioned by Ukrainian media. Thursday, Ukrainian state news agency Ukriformand portal Zaxid.net, reported false information that "trade associations of 4 EU countries called for boycotts of Polish carriers" in connection with the protest and blockade on the Polish-Ukrainian border.

"The associations and chambers of commerce of Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands and Italy called for a boycott of Polish transport companies, which established a blockade on the Polish-Ukrainian border" – Ukrainian media say. They mention to the open list of associations and chambers of industry.

"We call on all EU companies and representatives of their transport sectors not to extend transport contracts and to enter into fresh agreements with Polish transport companies while they proceed to block the Polish-Ukrainian border" – reads the appeal.

Writers besides express hope that Polish carriers will shortly end the blockade as shortly as Western European companies join the boycott.

It is worth noting that this act did not receive approval from the applicable national chambers or associations, but was signed by institutions focusing on promoting trade cooperation with Ukraine.

Thus, they engage in manipulation, claiming that they call for national societies from Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands and Italy to boycott.

Organizations supporting Ukraine in these countries keep that the consequence of the blockade resulting from the protest of Polish carriers is an increase in prices and fuel shortages in Ukraine. They point out that present only humanitarian and military transports are entitled to cross the border. In November of that year, the blockade caused exports from Ukraine to fall by 40 percent. In addition, the letter states that more than 2,500 trucks are waiting in line, and as a result, 2 Ukrainian drivers were killed. However, it is crucial to emphasise that, according to the information provided by the Polish services, the death of the second Ukrainian should not be linked to the protest, as confirmed by Ukrainian representatives.

As we informed earlier, Polish carriers participating in the protest are considering intensifying their activities in the context of transporting Ukrainian trucks by rail, thus bypassing the blockade at the border.
