On Friday, January 9, around 1:30 p.m. Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with president Karol Nawrocki at the Presidential Palace. The head of state and the head of government discussed, among others, the safety of Poland and the issue of Ukraine and the possible conclusion of a peace treaty with Russia by that country. After the meeting, Prime Minister Tusk announced that he and the president had come to an agreement on key issues in which there should no longer be a conflict between the Palace and the government.

"I suggested to the president that in matters straight concerning the safety of Poland (...) there are points that require the very solidarity of all Polish institutions," said Donald Tusk after the gathering at the Presidential Palace, quoted by polsantews.pl.

"I welcome the President's declaration that he feels the same way about these matters. I mean, we take the issues of Ukraine, Russia, military safety and Poland out of disputes and political, interior conflict and this must be our joint action," added the Prime Minister.

Since then, the Presidential Palace and the government are to form a common “one line of the Polish state in safety matters”. The Prime Minister besides stated that the gathering with the president was in a very pleasant atmosphere and "there was something left of the vacation mood".

One of the key topics of the discussion was the issue of the end of the war in Ukraine, and thus the anticipation of granting the country a safety warrant after peace was concluded. The president and Prime Minister agreed that they would search ratification after the conflict ended.
