On April 27, 1792, the Targowica Confederation was formed in St. Petersburg. The group of Polish envoys was led by Szczęsny Potocki. Initially, the Targowica members claimed that they had formed the confederation over 2 weeks later, already on Polish territory. The fact came to light only after any time.
