360 car accidents, 41 fatalities, 431 injured people – this is the tragic balance of this year's long weekend in August. Last year it was 230 accidents, 21 victims and 265 injured.
According to the data provided by the Police Headquarters, the most tragic day on the roads was the beginning of the “serpennikov”. Only on Friday 15 August there were 88 accidents and 21 people died. 5 people died on Saturday, and 8 on Sunday.
The number of intoxicated drivers is besides alarming: around 1.5 1000 were detained throughout the weekend. Only on Thursday 14 August, the officers stopped 234 drivers on double-gas.
One of the most tragic consequences of the accident occurred on national road No. 57 in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. A drunk driving man rammed the back of the wick that a household of 3 traveled. A kid and his father were killed at the scene; the female driving the vehicle was hospitalized.
