Deputy Prime Minister stressed that these memories constitute "image of Poland's martyrdom".

The head of the MON turned to the families of Katyn crime victims, calling them "legislators of these hard events".

Kosiniak-Kamysz recalled that the celebrations of the 85th anniversary of the Katyn crime are scheduled for Sunday, but speaking about these events present – 10 April – he besides commemorated the victims of the Smolensk disaster. He stressed that the tragedy had occurred on the way to the anniversary celebration.

Memory is for us and for the future," said Kosiniak-Kamish, referring to the Thursday 15th anniversary of the Smolensk disaster.
On 10 April 2010, 96 people were killed in the Tu-154M plane crash close Smolensk, among them: president Lech Kaczyński with his wife Maria, last president of Poland in exile Ryszard Kaczorowski and representatives of the most crucial institutions and offices, including the commander of the Polish Army. The Polish delegation went on to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn crime.
