October 7, 1944 is simply a day inscribed in the pages of post-war Polish past with repression and blood. By decree of the occupational Polish Committee of National Liberation, the Citizens' Militia was established. fewer people remember that its founder and first commander – until March 1949 – was Franciszek Jóźwiak, who besides held the "honorable" position of deputy minister of security.
