Simon Holowna's staff writes to TVP about the debate
Thursday The staff of Szymon Holownia referred to Trzaskowski's proposalwho considered that organising a debate before the first circular only between 2 candidates was against the law and democratic principles. The chief of his staff Jacek Cichocki wrote to TVP president, Tomasz Sygut.
‘In accordance with Article 120(1) of the Electoral Code, tv Poland has a work to hold debates between all candidates. This work means that public tv does not have the right to hold debates with only any candidates, even if a debate with all candidates was to be organised afterwards," says a letter to the public broadcaster.
TVP corresponds to Simon Holownia's staff
On Friday, TVP gave Simon Holownia's staff an answer and the marshal published it on social media.
"Television Poland is neither its initiator nor its host, nor has any influence on the number of participants. At the same time, it is worth noting that the tv broadcast of the debate of 2 candidates is not only legally permitted, but even essential and in accordance with the mission," TVP replied.
The Marshal commented on the public broadcaster's consequence to X. "Kuriosic TVP response. If not Public Television, who is the organizer of this debate? The staff of Trzaskovsky?”
The first circular of presidential elections in Poland will take place on Sunday, May 18. If a second circular is needed, it will take place 2 weeks later, which is June 1.
