Mexico's president Claudia Sheinbaum again harshly criticized Donald Trump's migration policy. During a regular press conference, she called it “a brutal policy towards migrants”.

"We do not agree to treat migrants like criminals" - said Sheinbaum answering questions from media representatives. It was her next protest against the actions of the American administration.

Trump visited the deportation centre

US president Donald Trump visited a fresh migrant facility on Tuesday, to which the United States authorities decided to apply deportation. The establishment of this centre, called the “Alcatraz of alligators”, has sparked protests by people and organizations defending migrants.

Migrant rights organisations criticise the conditions in the fresh facility. The protests concern peculiarly the treatment of people awaiting deportation.

Criticism of mass deportations

During a press conference, the Mexican president criticized mass deportations of migrants from the US. In her opinion, they will harm the American economy and besides “represent a serious violation of human rights”.

This was not the first speech in which the Mexican president expressed serious doubts about Donald Trump's policy towards migrants working in the United States. As stressed by the U.S. Associated Press Agency in the coverage of the Sheinbaum press conference.

Request for improvement of the migration system

As the agency recalled, last period Sheinbaum criticized mass manhunts and deportations of migrants in the US. The Mexican president then called for systemic changes in the approach to migration issues.

«It is not the usage of manhunts and force that solves problems; a general improvement of the migration strategy in the United States is needed" - said the president of Mexico.
