Alaksandr Lukashenka signed a treaty on safety guarantees within the State of the Union between Russia and Belarus, said BelTA on Tuesday. The agreement assumes common support of Minsk and Moscow on many levels in the event of situations interpreted as a threat.
The Treaty contains mutual guarantees of Minsk and Moscow concerning "the implementation of the essential measures in the event of a breach of the safety of Belarus and Russia as well as of the State of the Union as a whole".

The agreement assumes Strengthening the safety of both countries. ‘According to the paper Belarus and Russia take the essential measures in the event of a safety breach by any organization and the State of the Union as a whole", the Belarusian Agency stated.
According to the records, both regimes have support on many levels e.g. economic, diplomatic, military or technical. It was stressed that cooperation is "intensified" to respond to existing political and military challenges.

The Russian TASS agency stated that ‘in accordance with the Treaty, Russia and Belarus recognise the armed assault on a associate of the State of the Union as an act of aggression against the State of the Union as a whole and take appropriate reprisal measures, utilizing all the forces and capabilities they have."
